“Carissa is a fabulous therapist, advocate, and educator.  She has helped our son (age 3, former micropreemie born at 25 weeks, who has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy) IMMENSELY with his gross motor development.  In addition to all of the movement-related therapies and teaching, she always freely shares her wisdom and insight into how we can further help him continue to advance and grow.  We are so blessed to have crossed paths with her and thankful to have such an amazing resource in PEARL Pediatric Therapy.”

“If you’re looking for the hands down BEST pediatric physical therapist, look no farther!  God broke the mold when he made Carissa.  I had run the gamut and had interviewed several pediatric PT’s to no avail before discovering PEARL Pediatrics.  Carissa came highly recommended by another PT and after reading her credentials I was thoroughly impressed.  I scheduled an assessment with her for my 3 year old daughter and hired her immediately thereafter.  Carissa offers an unparalleled therapeutic approach through her genuine heart to heal, teach, empower and ultimately helping your child to become the best version of themselves.  I have seen her vast knowledge and skills put to the test and my daughter experienced noticeable improvements after only a few sessions.  Carissa exudes unlimited kindness, joy and patience with her client kiddos and equips their parents with the knowledge and tools that they need during non-session days.  PEARL Pediatrics will remain my go to choice for all of my children’s physical therapy needs.”

As a mom and fellow PT, I wholeheartedly recommend Carissa and PEARL!! I have one of those kiddos that most folks would see as typically developing or even ahead, but I saw something was missing in the safety department. Carissa was my first call! She helped me see that there were some stability milestones we had missed out on and made some great recommendations for ways we could work on stability during play. Mind you, all this was via Telehealth! Don't get me wrong, if I were still in town, I would have loved Carissa to stop by and meet my little in person...but Carissa is a total pro with her HIPAA compliant telehealth platform and made it easy and fun :)

“We wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are with our son’s Torticollis without Carissa’s Hep!  She is so so knowledgeable, helpful, thorough, and encouraging in making sure we understand what exercises need to be done, how to do them, ensuring we are doing them correctly, and the significance of what those particular exercises are helping with.  Could not recommend PEARL enough♥️”

“I would personally recommend PEARL to anyone for pediatric PT.  We contacted Carissa after seeing a different office based PT for four months with no progress with our little boy with Torticollis.  He was almost 10 months and had just learned to sit up.  When we started with Carissa, he was not rolling or anywhere near crawling, but wouldn’t even place weight through his arms.  Within 1 month with Carissa, he was progressing before our eyes.  Something we never saw with the other PT.  After a little over a year of PT with Carissa, he’s now walking everywhere and completely caught up to his age in gross motor with no signs he ever had Torticollis or was delayed in gross motor.  Carissa really does take the time to really show a parent how to help their kids in everyday ways that make sense. She listens to concerns and helps you see things in a different way.  She’s so good at responding to texts and giving you ideas to trouble shoot a specific concern.  Her home programs were easy to follow andI fully believe that’s why our son is where he’s at.  She’s more than a PT, she loves each kid she helps and truly wants the best for them.  It’s not just someone she checks off her schedule and list for the day like we felt at other PT office.  We love Carissa and if you’re looking for an amazing PT who genuinely cares then you should see PEARL Pediatric Therapy.”

Meet the Founder

Carissa

I’m happy to be here, New Braunfels!  My family moved to New Braunfels after almost two decades in San Antonio/San Marcos.  When I arrived to New Braunfels, I realized there is a huge need for mobile concierge physical therapy for babies/children locally.  Working with families is my happy place.

I have been a pediatric physical therapist for 15 years now.  I opened this private practice in 2019 to deliver what I would want for my own children.  No waiting, expertise and the heart of a teacher, no hectic commuting to clinics, and no insurance games.

And so,

PEARL PT was created.

I come to you loaded with vast experience at children’s hospitals, pediatric ICUs, home health agencies, adaptive recreation experience, and upper management experiences as Rehab Supervisor and Clinic Director in outpatient clinics formerly.  I’ve had several doctoral graduate PT students complete their affiliations under my wing.  I enjoy coordinating care with physicians, nurses, schools, hospitals, and adjunct services to therapy - always to advocate for the patient.

My formal education includes a Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science (BESS) with minor in Athletic Training in 2006, and a Masters in Science of Physical Therapy (MSPT) in 2008 — both from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.  I enjoy life long learning and all the continuing education I can get my hands on.  I am NDT trained, certified in infant massage, and have also been selected to serve as certified trainer for incoming hires at previous agencies.

//

Bringing real solutions to situations where families need help is my honor.
//
I owe my mentors the world, and hope to pay it forward to lead the next generation of pediatric physical therapists now as a mentor and community leader.
//
As owner and creator of PEARL Pediatric Therapy, PLLC, welcome to the new movement!  You decide when you want therapy, and I’m there to meet your needs.
//
When I’m not at work, family life is full with my husband of 15 years, also a physical therapist — and our two kiddos (9 and 6).  Being outside together, with our neighbors, or catching live music is our jam.  We love our life-giving church home too!  We will probably bump into you out there in other local fun that New Braunfels offers!  Come say hi!
